Kansaignathus sogdianus

(Kansai jaw from Sogdiana)Etymology
Kansaignathus is derived from "Kansai" (the locality where the holotype specimen was discovered) and the Greek "gnathos" (jaw). The species epithet, sogdianus, is derived from Sogdiana, an ancient historical region in Central Asia.
Discovery
The remains of Kansaignathus were discovered in the Yalovach Formation at the Kansai locality, northern Fergana Valley, about 22 km to the north of Khudzhand Town, Sughd Region, Tajikistan, by the Paleontological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1963—1964.
The holotype (2398/15) is a right dentary (tooth-bearing bone of the lower jaw).
