Angustungui qiketaiensis
(Narrow Claw from Qiketai)Etymology
Angustungui is derived from the Latin "angusti" (narrow) and "unguis" (claw). The species epithet, qiketaiensis (chee-kuh-tie-EN-sis), means "from Qiketai" (for Qiketai town) in Latin.
Discovery
The remains of Angustungui were discovered in the Qigu Formation at Qiketai town, Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur
Autonomous Region of China, by Dr Li Daqing and his team in 2016.
The holotype (SS V16001) is a partial skeleton including one neck vertebra, a right shoulder blade, a left shoulder spine, ten back vertebrae, several ribs, a block of 5 hip vertebrae, a complete pelvic girdle (both ilia, both ischia, both pubes), a left thigh, seven tail vertebrae, a finger and claw, and one armour plate. The paratype (SS V16002) is a right shoulder girdle.
