Furcatoceratops elucidans

(Enlightening Forked Horned Face)Etymology
Furcatoceratops is derived from the Latin "furcatus" (forked), and the Greek "ceras" (horned) and "ops" (face). Unlike the brow horns of most ceratopsians that curve away from each other to various degrees, those of Furcatosaurus were virtually parallel, like the tines of a carving fork. The species epithet, elucidans, means "enlightening" in Latin, in reference to the quality and quantity of its fossils which will help illuminate ceratopsid bone studies.
ZooBank registry: urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:A762506B-2246-4238-B51E-345E25AAE813.
Discovery
The remains of Furcatoceratops were discovered at "Triebold 12-020" quarry in the upper Coal Ridge Member of the Judith River Formation, 7 kilometres North-West of the town of Winifred, Fergus County, Montana, USA, by Mike Triebold in August 2012.
The holotype (NSM PV 24660) is a nearly complete, well-preserved subadult skeleton.
