If you glance to the right (or above, if you're on our mobile site), you will notice a top ten list of lightweight dinosaurs, plucked from our prehistoric database.
If a dinosaur is added to the site with the appropriate strangle-hold-breaking stats, this list will be updated automagically.
You're probably wandering why this page specifies lightest "extinct" dinosaur. The lightest actual dinosaur is the bee hummingbird, tipping the scales at 1.8 grams and measuring just over 5cm in length, which is native to the Isle of Pines and Cuba where it lays the smallest eggs in the smallest nests. Their diddy wings flap to the tune of sixty beats per second (up to 200 bps for a flirting male) and have so utterly mastered the art of flight that they never walk more than an inch or two.
You know birds are dinosaurs, right?
Please bear in mind that all extinct dinosaur sizes are based on often shabby remains using the not strictly scientific method of "guestimation". We use the lightest estimations mentioned in print, but palaeontologist's opinions vary dramatically.
What is the lightest extinct dinosaur?
